Recapturing Summer

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed youth programming in New York City. During a typical summer, 145,000 students across the five boroughs attend programs funded by the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development to support their social, emotional and academic development. To fill the gaps left by COVID-19, a coalition of non-profits – led by Children’s Aid National Center for Community Schools – convened to create Recovery Lab, a plan to recapture summer 2020 by supporting students and families through the transition to the pending school year.

Recovery Lab will provide funding to New York City non-profits that build academic and social emotional skills to support a successful transition back to school.
